There are moments…
When my heart shudders
And my backbone gives way
But on nights like tonight
Peering through the peepholes of heaven
My soul has awakened to reality
The dark sky
Is not a ceiling
But an expanse stretching wide
Where life’s woes echo
Merely as the overture
To eternity’s grand symphony
The moon and stars
Painted by the mighty finger
Of the one who loves me
And holds me in his embrace
Infuse my being with awe and wonder
In pure child-likeness,
Trust and curiosity
That divine finger lifts my chin to the heavens
And twirls me round and round; step by step
In celestial dance
At the snap of those fingers,
My foes, they scatter like light-stuck shadows
The accuser stumbles in silence to the grave
In this sacred safety, I drift into serene slumber
Under the wings of my savior
This child overcomes
By beholding beauty
Ey, the beauty of the Lord
Is my sanctuary
Like a drifting cloud, grief sails away
Sorrows dissolve in the Milky Way
Darkness cowers from heaven’s glow
The joy of the Lord
Anchors my soul
The joy of my salvation
Rises me higher
Soaring on eagle wings
To a bird’s-eye view
And higher still
To the unveiling of glory’s eternity
There are moments…
